Def: Nutrition

Nutrition: [noo-trish-uhn] noun
1. the act or process of nourishing or of being nourished.
2. the process by which organisms take in and utilize food material.
I am determined to fix my nutrition. But how? At this point, it's honestly tough to remember to eat at regular intervals. Let alone plan my meals out! I'd rather get my 8 hours of sleep than spend 1-2 hours planning out my week. Plus, then I don't really feel satisfied anyway.
I know Jillian says that eating is all about calories in, calories out. But I seriously think that is so oversimplified. You need to eat the right foods. You can enjoy eating. And from one foodie (me) to one trainer (Jill) - I can't just give up the mac and cheese. It doesn't work that way.
I can see this conversation happening:
Jill (J) - "If you can't ditch the (insert poor food choice here), maybe you don't want it enough."

Me - "Oh Jillian, but I do! I want it so badly getting fit is all I think about! Well, that and (insert poor food choice here)."

J - "Amanda, you need to choose your battles. The mac & cheese has no power, but your body will function without your consent."

Me - *sigh* "Ok, Jillian."

So my dilemma now is this: the family I live with doesn't eat healthy. Thankfully, they do believe in keeping a full stock of fruits in the house. But as for vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats? Not so much. I can't afford a gym membership or a diet outside what the family eats... so where do I go from here?

Workout DVDs, walks around the town, and lots of tea and fruit? Hmmm... Anyone have a better solution?

Writing again!

Hello! I know, I know. It's been about forever and a day since I've written on here, but I'm thinking it's about time that I get back on track and start losing weight again. Hopefully you'll all jump back on the bandwagon with me, but if not - no hard feelings. ;-)

In big news: I am keeping up with three blogs at this point, and I'm about to add a fourth. You can check them out by going to my profile and clicking on each blog. In this cycle, I'll be posting about once every fourth day. Want a run down? Here goes:

Javagypsy - look here for magazine-like posts, human interest pieces, fun what-if stories, and a bit of my creative ADD. This is kind of  a hodge-podge of professionalism-meets-free-falling features.

Blogicality - This is where I'm getting down and dirty. Of course, I try to include my personal life in all my writing, but this blog has become the focus for that - the ups and downs of everything that affects me can be found here. Keep an eye out for my photo blog here!

Nutritious Insanity - If you're here, I'm assuming you already know that these ramblings are about my quest to become a nutrition and fitness guru. Also known as... healthy.

Finally...

The Reader's Cafe - I've been allowed to join this mutual blog to review books from any discipline. Be it fiction (read: young adult, contemporary, classics, historical and romance) or non-fiction (*hem hem* Self-help and anything concerning food) --- You'll find my picks (recommendations) and pans (AVOID AT ALL COSTS) for books both new and old on this site.

You can also follow me on Twitter - @Javagypsy7 or on Instagram at Javagypsy.

The above links will eventually include a website and Facebook page, plus my Etsy account for my seller profile... and it will all fit neatly into a box on each blog, but for now - there's the full details. :)

In other news! Since this blog is already getting wordy, I'm just going to include the nutrition tip I am trying to incorporate into my life this week.

DRINK WATER.

According to The Skinny Rules, by Bob Harper, that is the #1 thing you can do to better yourself in the pursuit of health. Drink 8oz when you wake up, and 8oz before every meal, and you'll be well on your way to getting healthy.

Water helps you feel full, helps digestion move smoothly by clearing out toxins, and clears up skin problems. Why not drink more of it?

Thanks for reading!
